Allie Biancoviso is a trombonist, composer, and educator from Staten Island, New York. Currently residing in Miami, Allie holds a master’s degree in jazz pedagogy from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where studied with Dante Luciani and Brian Lynch, and served as a fellow for the Henry Mancini Institute with artistic director, Maria Schneider. She is now continuing her studies at the Frost School pursuing a DMA in Jazz Composition and studying with Dr. Stephen Guerra.

An experienced performer in jazz, classical, and popular music settings, Allie has performed with artists such as Christian McBride, Bad Bunny, Lindsay Sterling, Monsieur Perine, Jennifer Wharton’s Bonegasm, and the Birdland Big Band. In Miami, she performs regularly with her own band and as a freelancer. She was recently featured in the 2025 Stanford Jazz Festival performing alongside the 2024-2025 Stanford Jazz Mentor-Fellow Cohort. In 2024, Allie toured as a sideman with the Mike Davison Big Band in Santiago de Cuba at the Festival Internacional Jazz Plaza. Her band, The Allie Biancoviso Quintet was featured as a finalist for the Music at McBride Performance Series in January 2024.

The Allie Biancoviso Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2026 and features entirely original compositions and arrangements by Biancoviso. The band will have their debut performance in October 2026 as part of the Lamar Louise Curry Concert Series at First United Methodist Church in Miami.

As an educator, Allie serves as a teaching assistant for the University of Miami’s Shalala MusicReach Program where she provides jazz instruction at schools across Miami. She also currently serves as the Adjunct Instructor of Low Brass at Westminster Christian School in addition to running her own private studio. Since 2024, Allie has served on faculty at the Stanford Jazz Workshop’s Jazz Camp. Allie holds a bachelor’s in music education from Penn State where she studied trombone with Mark Lusk.

In addition to performing, Allie has conducted research centered on ways to create inclusive learning environments for women in jazz. She has presented this research at multiple conferences including the 2023 Jazz Education Network Conference, 2022 Pennsylvania State Music Educators Conference, and 2021 New York State School Music Association Conference. Her doctoral essay focuses on the contributions of jazz trombonist, composer, and arranger, Melba Liston, to the jazz idiom.

In March 2025 and 2026, Allie performed at the American Trombone Workshop in Washington D.C. as part of the Frost School of Music's Jazz Trombone Ensemble who were the winners of the 2025 ATW Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition. This group also was honored as the winners of the 2026 International Trombone Association's Melba Liston Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition. In June 2024, Allie was selected to participatein Jazz Aspen’s JAS Academy. Allie is a recipient of the 2022 Jazz Education Network Hal Leonard Scholarship and 2022 Margot Jazz Fund Award. In 2020, Allie was selected to be a participant in both the Women in Jazz Organization’s Mentors Program and The International Women’s Brass Conference’s Mentorship Program where she studied with Kalia Vandever and Jennifer Wharton.
